Silverstone Sept 2006

With another invitation to drive the Emotional Engineering Vauxhall Monaro based on the two excellent results from the Rockingham round, Anthony was looking forward to another successful weekend this time at silverstone alongside Jimmy Brodie.

Qualifying was respectable in a huge grid of cars and fantastic weather, this round was to be a 2 hour race in contrast to the previous round and required consistency as well as pace.

Jimmy started the race but clashed with a Porsche at the first corner putting him down the field. Following a strong drive for about 20 mins he then lost control of the car on oil and was forced into the gravel. Marshals spent 10 minutes trying to free the stricken car after which the team instructed Jimmy to return to the pits to check for damage.

Even with only 40 minutes gone it was an ideal moment to do the mandatory driver change and Anthony jumped in.

Having lost time on the leaders in the class it was now down to Anthony to get the car to the finish and hope others also lost time to maximise the result and get valuable points for the team.

After driving in extreme heat for well ove an hour the chequered flag came out and due to others also clashing and suffering reliability woes we got 4th place and an excellent haul of points which considering the circumstances was a bonus.

Anthony is now hoping that following these two outings and having scored more points for the team than they had scored all year he is in a position to compete more rounds for the team - Watch this space!
