Brands GP Nov 2004
In the time between Donington and Brands we undertook some additional weight saving work to the car and the first steps in the transformation to the fantastic GT car you see today. The carbon GTR front bonnet was fitted, along with carbon doors and lexan windows for the side and rear. The car was also treated to the beautiful red paintwork that it sports today. This colour is actually a Ferrari colour, Scuderia Rosso, and is the same colour used on the Ferrari F1 cars. Tony really liked the colour, and we all agree that it works well! Brands once again was a double event, with an Open GT race in the day and a Britcar night race in the evening. Tony teamed up with Angus Dawe again for the open race. A storming first race turned into a 2nd race nightmare when a coil pack failed losing us time in the pit lane. Despite this we managed to finish 10th overall, with a best lap of 1:45.739 in wet and cold conditions. Tony and Ed were paired again for the night race, which featured freezing conditions. It was a much harder race in the dark than Donington, and again was full of incidents and accidents. Tony took the last stint of the race having to drive the last 11 laps with a flat tyre and broken driveshaft! Despite all of this he brought the car home in 8th place, which unfortunately did not give us a class position. Last race of the season, the car is now going to be entirely transformed for next season!
